At Congregation Beth Israel, Jewish life is relevant, modern, and joyful. As the oldest Jewish congregation in Texas, Beth Israel has a rich history and legacy. We are an active and vibrant Reform Jewish congregation with a diverse membership. We strive to be welcoming and inclusive to meet the needs of all our members. Torah is our foundation. In our congregational family, Jewish and non-Jewish family members, alike, engage in personal and communal deeds to enrich life every day. In worship, education and programming personal connections are made with our rabbis, cantor, and educators who inspire in us the joy of Jewish living. With more than 1700 member households, Beth Israel is large enough to provide extraordinary opportunities and small enough to care very deeply about each of our families. Congregation Beth Israel’s Religious School is dedicated to inspiring a life-long commitment to learning and Jewish values among our youth. The teaching staff is filled with individuals who are committed to creating a warm, exciting and supportive learning environment. Many of our teachers have advanced degrees in education and all of them are caring people who are passionate about Judaism. The enrollment of more than 500 students is open to children of Congregation Beth Israel members. The mission of the Congregation Beth Israel Religious School is to foster in our students a strong and enduring Jewish identity, rooted in Jewish values, in a loving and supportive environment. Partnerships between the home, synagogue, and the Jewish community help us further this mission by allowing for experiences that create a connection between a deepening Jewish literacy and practice. We encourage lifelong Jewish learning and a strengthened community, as we prepare our students for the future. Congregation Beth Israel Religious School Tech Department is dedicated to making the educational experience of our students more meaningful and interesting by use of technology, such as laptops (websites, YouTube videos, etc.), movies, Flip cameras (for movie-making), and many other technological resources. Madrichim, youth teaching assistants, often assist in use of the technology while one Tech Specialist (youth) manages the equipment.
